Brahmin

The Brahmins are considered the highest social caste. Their sharp Indo-Aryan features and olive complexions suggest a descent from India. They follow Hinduism and historically were considered the priests and teachers of the society. Even today, they form the majority of the ‘intellects’ of the country. Their religious rituals are based on Hindu scriptures like the Vedas and Purans. Before officially becoming the national language, Nepali was the language of this caste.
